Practice Your Craft Daily To Master It!

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Today I want to talk about the importance of practicing your craft everyday. If you want to get good at something, if you need to master something, become better at something, etc. it is going to take a lot of practice. PERIOD!

Let’s take a look at Michael Jordan, who is the best basketball player of all time. Everyone knows that Michael was cut from his high school basketball team because he simply wasn’t good enough. The question is how can this be possible with him becoming the best of all time. The answer is because he was willing to practice everyday and as much as he could to get that good. He was always pushing himself, stretching, and PRACTICING!

It was not a mistake that Michael became as good as he did. He was just willing to do way more than most people do because he wanted to be the best. He lived and breathed the sport, he watched himself on video, he listened to everything his coach said, etc. He took all of this feedback into consideration and practiced, made some adjustments, and practiced some more.

All of this practice has paid off big time for him. It’s not rocket science. Whatever you want to get good at, all you have to
do is be willing to practice as much as you can and you will improve everytime you do.

I want to be the best speaker I can possibly be so I spend as much time as I can practicing my presentations. I practice in the car, while walking, while working out, in the shower, etc. Think that thing you need to master in order to become successful in what you do and get started today!
