Leaders Are Readers

Sunday, August 1st, 2010

This tip is crucial to your long-term success no matter what you plan on achieving in your life. It is reading because leaders are readers. I have to start by saying that I never thought I would be reading as many books as I do today. I read more now than ever before. I’m talking hundreds of percents more than when I was going to school. I read everyday for a minimum of an hour and have a goal of completing one book a week for the rest of my life.

I can only recall one class out of many that I actually read an entire story, assignment, or chapter. You may think I’m joking but I’m dead serious. I would go to the end of the assigned chapters to read the summaries, then read the questions, and then go find the answers. Between all of these things combined with the lectures and my note taking, I somehow was able to still pull off high eighty averages. I couldn’t help myself because the material was just so boring.

About nine years later I was introduced to network marketing which if you don’t know already is a way to make an unlimited amount of money from home. The most important thing that they focused on was reading. At first I was like this isn’t for me if I have to read. My team leader handed me a book to get me started by the name of “The Magic Of Thinking Big” by David Schwartz.

I decided to give the book a try and was amazed with my findings. I was introduced to several powerful strategies for success that built upon my current skills and most importantly, my eyes were opened to all of the different possibilities for my life. Then I started purchasing more books and started to realize that you can learn anything you want from books.

There is a book written for everything, I mean everything that you want to know. People wrote books about their lives to share how they became so successful. Some wrote books on how to become wealthy. Some wrote about how to buy real estate, eliminate debt, become a leader, how to make money on the internet, how to turn your life around, and the lists goes on and on.

I found out that it so easy to motivate yourself to read when you’re reading something that you want to read and you find interesting. I discovered that the most successful people in this world read to help create the life they have because this stuff is not taught in school. In school they teach you what you need to know to work a job and live an average life. But if you want to take control of your life and write your own script, you must self-educate yourself by reading the appropriate materials.

Reading is powerful and there’s an unlimited amount of valuable information out there that you can fill your mind with. This is a major part of your personal development plan and I recommend that you get started today. You’ll be glad you did. So what book are you going to begin reading today that’s going to expand your mindset and skillset? What book are you going to read that is going to motivate and inspire you to stop playing small and create an extraordinary life? In the back of my “12 Secrets To Student Success” book I list 19 of the first books I read that made major impacts to my life located at http://TheRobMoore.com/products
